on leaf spring sprites a panard bar works well, It takes all the cornering
side loads off the rear springs and makes it much more
predictable/comfortable in the corners, the real downside is that body roll
tends to shorten the bar making tire clearance the thing to watch out for, and
on the road this can cause rear bump steer. By making the bar as long and low
as possible and perfectly horizontal it reduces this tendency and has the
added benefit of lowering the roll center on the rear. Certainly a watts
link is superior but in some/most groups it is just a technology too new for
vintage ..............chuck
