I recall a discussion concerning the merits of 2 and 3 layer suits.
Maybe this will convince those who think 2 layers are OK to reconsider.
BTW, I wear 3 layers.

SAFETY COMES IN THREES
Do you want 30 seconds of protection from fire or only 15?
Gordon White driving a front engine vintage midget at Lime Rock on Labor
Day had an engine blow at speedcausing a fire. By the time he could
slow, pull to the side and bail out he sustained painful burns to his
feet and legs which will require skin grafts.
He is now seeking a triple layer suit to buy those extra seconds of
safety margin which he hopes not to need. He waswearing a two layer plus
nomex underwear and one layer of sox rated about 12-15 seconds. The
areas under the extra layers of shoe closure was not burned.
He advises his fellow racers to seek the advice of good race safety
retailers and see if an upgrade or new equipment is in order.
