The Lance Ruting collection of motorsport photographs has been saved fro=
m
being broken up by a group of historic racing enthusiasts in NSW.
The collection represents the life work of Lance and comprises over 230,0=
00
photographs, many in colour. These range from the early days of the Tasm=
an
Series right through to the present day. In fact most of the people and
most of the cars that competed in this state during the period will be
present in the collection.
The consortium that purchased the collection at auction last sunday is
headed by Ben Seehusen. Ben used to race a VW Sports Sedan. More recent=
ly
he has become a very enthusasitic rally competitor including five of the
Dick Smith Bash's and the last London to Sydney marathon in the events he=
has completed.
Other members comprise a number of people from the HSRCA, a few Lotus
people and a number of us who race Historic Formula Ford.
The objectives of the group are to keep the collection together,
permanently, and to make it available to public and particularly to those=
who competed during the period in NSW. =
