Thanks to all who responded to my call for help on 8/17/97!!! Many responded
with good advice, and shared their experiences with various tires for vintage
racing.
Jack Woerhle, Sam White and John Gardner (all at SVRA) were very helpful and
supportive. They seem like a great group and are trying to fine tune SVRA and
help heal some wounds.
I hooked up with Bob Woodman Tires, Inc. (Charleston SC- 803-571-2277). He
will be at Watkins and is bringing me 4 Hoosier Street TD 205/60-14 tires
which he will mount at the track. He too was interested and helpful.
I guess vintage racers (particularly those who "ENJOY THE RIDE") are a great
bunch!
I hope many of you make it to Watkins-- look for the "Small Bucks Racing"
Datsun 1600-- painted a la' BRE Racing cars- and please say hi.
Check the Watkins Glen web sight for schedule. Friday will be a festival in
town, with the vintage racers on display on the main street(Franklin Street)
-- later in the day they are allowing us to take two laps of the original
course!! Sat. and Sun. will be practice, qualifying and the races. There
will also be 2 two hour enduros, an all MG race and a special Can-AM race(I
can hear those great V/8 engines now)
I hope to see you. Again, many thanks for your help.
