my first trip to pittsburgh. this is vintage racing the way it used to be-
hay bales protecting you from city sidewalks, concrete barriers a few feet
from the apexes on turns, fans so close on some stretches you can almost
touch them. no room for error but a challenging course through a city park on
city streets with enough elevation and camber changes to make mid-ohio seem
flat. in short, a wonderful diversion from our normal venues. everyone should
experience this event at least once. good clean racing only one incident(a
healey went off into a stone wall damaging car not driver). the most serious
incident occurred during the patron parade lap at lunch when an"i want to be
a race car driver"somehow managed to drive his corvette L-88 off course and
down a 30 foot embankment to the cheers of the crowd(no injury except to the
drivers ego). mike connolly, jake jacobsen ,don awrey and the vscca deserve
credit for a wonderful event,
