Had you read my reply to David a little more carefully instead of firing
off a flame, you would have seen that my Spridget is an SCCA car, not a
vintage car. In SCCA, any gearbox from any origin is perfectly legal so
long as it has only 4 speeds (if your car was originally a 4 spd.) Some
people have mated Toyota boxes to Spridgets with the fifth speed blanked
off, and I've even seen small Chevy truck boxes used. My Spridget is a
1275 cc F Prod car with 130+ HP - at least according to Comptune. The
motor just tore the hell out of the Sprite gearboxes which were designed
for around 85 HP.
