Sorry to bomb the whole lists, but hopefully non-Australia-based listers =
will pardon the intrusion, and, I have tried to make it relevant to all =
three lists.
On Sunday 23-March the HSRCA (Historic Sports & Racing Car Association) =
will be running a pre'60 Race Meeting at Wakefield Park, near Goulburn, =
two hours south of Sydney.
If you are in the locality it should be a good club racing event and =
worth a visit. Anybody arriving in a road car that is over 30 years old =
gets free admission for the driver. A number of clubs are organising =
specific club run drives to the meeting, so there should be some =
good/interesting cars both off the track as well as on the track.
Number of entries, by category, is as follows (hope this meets specific =
list content criteria):
Group J & K (pre-War) =3D 11 including 1921 Amilcar, 1927 =
Salmson GS8, 1929 Ford A Special, 1933 MG J Type, 1939 MG TB
Group Lb Racing & Sports (post-War) =3D 21 including 1949 =
Cooper Type 10, 1947 MG TC Special, 1952 Cooper Bristol, 1957 Nota =
Consul, 1957 Cooper T43, 1959 Lotus 15, 2 x 1959 Buchanan Roadster
Group N (tin tops) =3D 15 comprising (sorry about full list, =
but this is my category so I'm biased) 2 x 1958 Morris Major, 1958 VW =
Beetle, 1955 Morris Oxford, 1957 Wolseley 1500, 1957 Morris Minor, 1955 =
Jaguar Mk VIIM, 2 x 1957 Ford Zephyr Mk II, 1953 Holden FX, 2 x 1955 =
Holden FJ, 1957 Austin A35, 2 x 1958 Jaguar Mk I
Group Sa (Sports Cars) =3D 8 comprising 3 x 1959 MGA, 1960 =
Austin-Healey Sprite, 1957 Alfa Romeo Spyder, 1959 Sunbeam Alpine, 1957 =
Austin-Healey BT7, 1958 Jaguar 150S
In addition there are Regularity classes for a variety of cars, with =
entries including 1926 Ford T Speedster, 1938 DKW Sports, 1939 Plymouth =
Special, 1951 Jowett Jupiter, 1928 Triumph S7 Sports, 1948 MG TC =
Special, 1959 Daimler SP250, 1936 Riley Rizzo Special, 1930 MG M Type, =
1955 MG Magnette, 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2.
This is the HSRCA's first attempt at a race meeting specifically for =
pre'60 cars, so it is hoped that the numbers will increase next year at =
a similar event - if you are in Australia and are interested in =
competing at next year's event please email me direct.
I hope that it gives overseas readers some idea of the spread of cars =
(mainly British, or, British-based) that we have down here that people =
use in competition events.
Apologies again for the intrusion....
........regards....Andrew "Axeman" Pursey=20
1954 Morris Oxford, 1955 Morris Oxford (racing in Group Na pre'58 =
Classic Saloons), 1955 Morris Isis, 1956 Morris Isis, 1994 Land Rover =
Discovery (a terrific tow vehicle), plus 1996 SAAB 900S Coupe (more =
trouble in under 500 miles than any LBC - if this is typical of the =
marque, don't buy a SAAB)
