The History Channel missed on that one. The Ford/Ferrari deal was written up
in Road and Track some time ago. Actually, Ferrari initiated the deal and
Ford played along. Don Frey was sent over to negociate. Ferrari called off
the deal for reasons unknown. Ferrari would have been split into two
divisions, Ferrari-Ford, which would be the racing division, with Ferrari
calling the shots. Ford-Ferrari would build street models, with Ford in
charge. How close the street Ferraris came to being a hood scoop/striping
package on a Maverick will never be known. Enzo was interested in Indy. They
built several experimental Indy cars that never raced and sent over a few
cars in the 1950s with no sucess.
