While the subject of proper vintage cars are being discussed, I must admit
that I'm troubled by the addition of the 3 year old Nascar vehicles, the
IMSA stuff, and the "winged" monoposto doohickies. What's the deal? Just
because a car has become uncompetitive in it's racing organizations
rulebook doesn't make it vintage. Understandably, my attitude can be
perceived as somewhat selfish because my main concern is track time, and
the addition of all these new groups further limits that.
Are these additions being driven (pun intended) by mucky mucks in the
various organizations? Or by "prominent" (read... big dollar) members that
help provide sponsorship? What's the percentage of those of us who make up
these organization that approve of these additions? Is this a hostile take
over? Is "sponsorship" (the precise reason for the inception of vintgae
racing...racing before commercialism) responsible?
I'll sit back and listen for my answer...
