A couple of weeks ago, I attended the vintage grand prix at IRP. (Just a
spectator for now, my racing budget consists of a bucket full of pennies) I
was shocked to see on the entry list a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix, and a '94
Thunderbird stock car. Since when is a 1 year old in any way historic? My
21 year old Spitfire isn't legal for a vintage event, why should these cars
be? It must be the fact that these NASCAR guys have money to burn, while
I'll have to skip a few lunches to buy tires for the weekend. Money talks,
I guess. They should have their own events, they seem to have enough cars,
and could draw on their own fan base for support. Those cars, at least to
me, don't belong in a 'vintage' event, let alone one on a road course like
IRP.
