I truly hope that the reason for the cancellation is other than that
specified. It would be sad if organizing bodies begin to control access
to venues used for staging Vintage/Historic races; the philosophy that
the cars are what the people come to see should prevail and, by
restricting the public's ability to view these machines at speed, it
does a disservice to the sport as a whole. Never mind that the racers
are denied the opportunity to run two great tracks in a single, extended
race trip!
On the other hand, it's HSR that got the Daytona 24-hour track
permission and I imagine that "chafes" a bit... Unfortunately, Joe
isn't on the net yet so we can't get the inside story - might be worth a
call though...
