I should also be a participant in the CSRG event, but not in the
Enduro. I have a little difficulty finding a qualified driver for a
formula car with the shift on the left! I have not been doing this as
long as some of the others, and I'm a little nervous being out there in
a car that barely comes up to the door handle on some cars.
The Le Mans start is the beginning of the Bob Green Memorial Enduro.
CSRG doesn't refer to it as a "Le Mans" race, they just call it "The
Enduro." The Enduro will start on Sunday, roughly 2 in the PM. In past
events I have seen the little sedans (Lotus Cortina) bolt away from the
line while the formula car drivers are still climbing in. In a few
laps, the formula cars blast right around the sedans. ;=) This year
they are adding a crew of marshals to the grid to make sure every
driver is securely buckled in before they head out. Some of the larger
cars must have been driving off without being fully buckled. You can do
that in some cars, but in most formula cars, you can't even see the
anti-sub strap with your helmet on, let alone fasten it!
The only CSRG event I have seen that had a significant # of spectators
was at the Reno Hilton, where the promoters were actually trying to
attract them. It was a good event. See you at Thunder Hill. I should be
in # 199, the Bourgeault Formula Junior, dicing for last place. ;=)
