Sounds like you are discussing the Slideaway roof. I vaguely recall that
there is  an adjustment in the closing linkage which should deal with the
problem. The main arch at the front is in fact spring metal, and the idea is
it touches on the outside initially, then as you close the latch it pulls
down in the middle, closing all along  the leading edge. Works quite clever,
when adjusted properly. Sounds like your latch is not pulling down enough in
the centre. Take a good look at the mechanism, and you should find the
adjustment. Can't recall any more details than that. Good luck. Stephen
