Spike Radiator, I believe in the Denver, Colorado area, restores fuel =
tanks, assuming he is still around. He cuts a small opening into the =
tank to allow him to sandblast the interior before installing a coating =
system.=20

Good luck.

Subject: [TR] TR2 gas tank repair/cleaning
=20
I have a 1954 TR2. I redid it about 12 years ago, and it ran great. =
Unfortunately, I had some health issues, and it sat until recently. I =
am redoing all of the brakes, clutch cylinder, carbs, fuel pump, etc. I =
found thick black tarry stuff in the sediment bowl of the fuel pump and =
bottoms of the carbs. I removed the gas tank, and it appears the same =
stuff is in there. So, I am attempting to clean out the gas tank. I =
used muriatic acid, low dilution, and now there are sheets of rust like =
material coming lose, and the black stuff seems to still be in the =
bottom. I would like to have it dipped in a hot tank, but can't find =
one in California (where I live) or Reno NV.
=20
Does anyone have any suggestions? Either a hot tank business in CA or =
NV? I have thought about taking it to a welder, have the top cut off, =
sand blasted, and then thee top re-welded. The tank is original, and =
appears to be solid and in good shape, except for the black stuff. The =
are no pin holes, and doesn't leak when filled with water.
=20
Thoughts?
