I=E2=80=99m not sure where I am jumping in on this conversation but from ou=

h a full 12 volts, not the reduced voltage that you get at the coil. Yes, I=
also believe that there is part of the feed wire to the coil that acts as =
the ballast resistor. Feeding the unit =E2=80=9Cin front=E2=80=9D of the ba=
llast resistor would mean between the resistor and the ignition switch. Whe=
n you feed the unit the reduced voltage via the resistor, it will start to =
cause ignition misses after 500 miles or less. Then, when you are on your w=
ay to the CT Antique Machinery Show, the car will die completely, requiring=
you to walk home and tow the car home with your 1952 John Deere 50 tractor=
. I=E2=80=99m glad that was only a mile and a half walk. By the way, the fi=
rst time it happened, Pertronix was very helpful, providing a replacement u=
nit under warranty with an analysis of deficient input voltage on the old u=
nit.

Robert, I=C2=A0 have a 72 TR6 with a Pertronix but 72's do not have ballast=
resistors.=C2=A0 Therefore, I'm not positive of what I'm about to say, but=
it is my recollection that the ballast resistors in the later models are a=
ctually in the wire (positive,=C2=A0 I believe) going to the coil.=C2=A0 I'=
m not sure what=C2=A0 they mean by "in front" of the ballast resistor.....w=
hether that means between the ignition switch and the resistor, or between =
the resistor and the coil
