Gasoline usually has a shelf life of about 90 days before all of the
lightest bits evaporate.  After seven years, I expect you're halfway back
to crude oil.  If you want to clean with gas, get fresh gas.  If you are
putting it in your tank, get fresh gas.

tl;dr old gas is a gooey mess.
