Not sure I'm recalling correctly and I've deleted it, but was the original post 
about running Valvoline 20-50 synthetic?  


Just my experience, of course, but I ran that for the life of the first rebuild 
I ran in the TR3.  When I tore the engine down I found the lifters and cam had 
traded metal pretty severely.  Have been running VR1 20 50 non-syn in this 
second rebuild.  No issues so far and not seeing crud on the filler cap, but 
have yet to tear this engine down...thankfully!
