Hello Friends,
I wish to share the news of my first win in my TR3 in my 12th race event as a
driver.
Group one started the rainy and wet weekend with 31 cars. Although the rain
ended early in the a.m. Saturday, the track was wet everywhere and still damp
in places for Sunday.
23 started the race.
I qualified third, behind the pole Lotus Mk6 and MGA.
Two other fast competitors, the Tatum Special and Maserati 200SI had problems
and didn't qualify.
I passed the second and pole starters early in the first lap and led the rest
of the race, gaining as much as a 20 second lead before catching the back
markers. I lapped up to 16th before seeing the one lap signal, then cooled it
a bit for a 12.5 second gap for the win.
The Lotus finished 2nd, Healey 3000 3rd, Alfa TZ 4th, MGA 5th, Lotus 11 6th,
Maserati 200SI 7th to name a few.
What a race!
