Mine are not embossed (wished they were)  but painted on. I tried  
painting with special fine brushes and paints, etc. but could not do  
a good job without them looking quite messy. I concluded that that  
takes an experienced miniature artist -- not a clumsy old-timer like me.
  If you were successful doing your painted-on numbers, what paint  
and brushes do you recommend?
