It's easy if:
A) you don't car if the windshield gets scratched and
B) You don't care if the paint gets scratched.
Otherwise I don't recommend it.
I think it was done primarily for cinematic purposes. The audience can see
the actors better with that pesky windscreen out of the way. And as anyone
in the entertainment industry will tell you, "Don't let the facts get in
the way of a good story."
