Bill,
If you end up going in September, head for the Goodwood Revival meeting,  
Sept. 14 -16. I haven't been there yet, but it's absolutely on my bucket 
list.  This has to be the best vintage car event on the planet for a British 
car 
(or  airplane) nut.
