The ground clearance is about < less than the exhaust pipe bracket on the
other side and about < more than the end of the exhaust pipe (without
extension). But since I vaguely remember dragging the tail pipe a time or
two, you bring up a good point. I have a not so cherry WIPAC version of
the rear lamp in the a parts pile (not even close to a driver condition).
I may install it when I get to the test drive phase to make sure. If it is
an issue, I can perhaps make the bracket with a recess ( _|-- ) so that it
sits higher or as a alternative make a longer bracket and mount it the other
direction next to the over-rider.

Carl, the rear lamp looks nice. How do you think it will affect your
clearance on ramps, if at all? Looks a little vulnerable from the pic.

Following Chris' comment I made a modification to the switch mounting.

The cover is made from the 'bucket' mounting for a windshield washer pump
(it was a damaged pump) and a coil plug wire boot. Fit perfectly. Now I
won't have to worry about a stray water spray hitting the hot side of the
switch.

Hope all is well with everyone this day after Christmas. I am off all this
week so I am hoping to make great strides in getting the project done. I'll
be finishing up the seat re-assembly today as well as working on the never
ending battle of the under-dash electrics. Next (after electrics) is the
floor insulation and carpeting. I bought a small piece of high temp (1750d)
heat insulation (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DEI-050508/ ) to place
between the exhaust system and the floorboard/tunnel areas plus a product
called EZCool (http://www.lobucrod.com/ ) to install under the carpet.
We'll see if they help with the heat buildup.
Enough for now.

Looking good. Is the switch made for outside function?
I like the lamp as well. I found a lamp that looked OK at a vw bug catalog.
Close to correct period, too. I'll be wiring it up during the holidays to
the reverse switch on the Toyota transmission (hvda).
