The motor is less a problem than the fan. Mgb's and midgets used to have a
more aggressive fan that worked wonders.

Is there an upgrade out there for the fan motor, using modern technology like
rare-earth magnets? The current output of the heater is so anemic! I was
thinking that if I went to all the trouble of tearing the old Smith's unit out
from under the dash, that it would be a great time to upgrade if something was
available.
