I prefer the shims as you end with a nice centered caliper now and forever. Pretty easy to make the shims, easier still if you have one handy as a pattern. As I usually need to use a couple of shims I tie them in place with some dental floss thru the holes, then assemble the brackets and bolts. You really need something (like the floss) to keep all the bits together as you assemble. Geo |
