Hi All, If the fuel filter is mounted with the outlet on top, the level of fuel will indicate how much of the filter media is being used at the time. As the media begins to fill with "stuff" filtered out, the level rises so that the fuel can be filtered through unclogged media. Thus when the level rises, you know how soon you must replace it by how high the level has become. Be happy that it is only up a short way. This is just my opinion.
