Assuming you mean the splines for wire wheels -- I have always used (silver)
anti-seize, available in the 1/2 lbs bottle.

Hooh boy, you'll get a variety of opinions on this -- no clear right answer
(though some lubricants would be wrong answers).
In the OD gearbox I use straight 30W non-detergent motor oil.
In the rear I use GL4 hypoid gear oil.
