TR2 update. Part 1
Late last year - I invited my car club (Triumph club of the carolinas)
over for a tech session - aka work session on my TR2. We carefully got it
started and then started on replacing the hydraulics. We got as far as rear
brakes and new clutch slave - but while playing with the new slave - we
found the car had a broken shear pin in the clutch cross shaft. Between Job
and issues wiht my TR4 - I did not get any further.
Fast forward - My car club hosts a very nice British car show in Shelton
Vineyards, north central North Carolina. I was determined to get the TR2 in
to a condition that I could drive it there. Out to the jewelry store and
bought a nice diamond braclet for my better half. Happy Wife Happy Life=
more car parts!!!
An unexpected engine rebuild for the TR4 means no work on the TR2. Someone
in the club cancelled a tech session and I grabbed the oppurtunity to do
more work on the TR2. Took Friday off to prepare.
Friday - removed oil pan and cleaned and replaced. removed fuel pump
- diaphragm was bubbled out on both sides. removed drive shaft and replaced
universal joints. Removed lower engine shield and all lower bolts in
preparation for Saturdays session. ran new parking brake cables - never saw
frayed ones before this one.
Saturday tech session - finished removal of transmission - cut cross shaft
out; rebuilt front brakes and replaced all flex hose. removed generator (bad
bearings),
