I remember Fred early on in the beginnings of my TR3 restoration, he gave me
lots of good advice, resources and even found a genuine Tropical Fan in his
stash that he sold me at a very reasonable price.
He and I grew up in the same city, Alexandria, VA but went to cross-town
high schools.
I have a picture of Fred and John Phillips(Mamas & Papas) when they played
on the city basketball team together. After they won the city title they
went to DC and got whipped by team lead by Elgin Baylor(remember him?)
Willard Scott was his class president at GW High.
I never got to meet him in person, but between the emails we traded and the
many posts to the list I feel like I knew him well.
Wow, sure going to miss that guy!!

Subject: [TR] Fred Thomas Update
Fred's wife, Debbie, just called to say that Fred died this afternoon.
He was still in the hospital and had started experiencing organ failure a
couple of days ago. I was just a steady decline that had started a couple
of years ago.
I don't have any details of arrangements at this time.
He was kind of a controversial guy and you either liked him or not, but his
enthusiasm for Triumphs and those who loved them cannot be disputed. I know
we'll all miss him and his valuable input to the list and our lives.
