also the permatex products are basically a silicone sealant. i use 10's gal=

of silicone sealants in my work day, every day,=A0and it is very intolerant=

oily or wet surfaces. even the slightest oil or water will cause failure. =
whereas hylomar is very tolerant.

That's odd.=A0 The factory gaskets were quite a bit thicker than what I'd c=

kraft paper, more like a thin cardboard IMO.
I like Hylomar for those gaskets, mostly because it's easy to remove next
time.=A0 In fact, I can frequently reuse the gasket.

I also use Hylomar there, applied to both sides.=A0 Last time I also added a
fiber washer (cut from an unused carb gasket) to the support stud in the
middle of the cover, also with Hylomar on both sides.
