Tony,
The problem is probably bad ignition wires. The insulation is degraded.
Another possibility is bad plugs. Too much resistance. The voltage builds
up and startsa to jump where it can find the least resistance.
At first I was going to say you had a bad coil, but that would cause you to
lose spark. You can't have too much spark. Just too much resistance in the
wires/plugs.
