As it turns out, that is one of those "separated by a common language"
things ... to a Brit, "jelly" is flavored gelatine (like Jell-O), rather
than the fruit preserves that Americans know as "jelly". So you can use
your "jelly" jar with confidence!

Personally, I prefer to use the jars that we get mixed nuts in; but it has
been said that I'm a bit nutty ...
