Randall and others,
I did use shims to facilitate more space between the rack and the fan
extension before I installed an electric fan and eliminated the extension.
One problem however is that there is very little extra thread on the
threaded post on either side of the rubber mount to allow for much of a
shim. I've owned my car (TR4A) since 1969 and I don't recall having this
problem back in the day. Perhaps the original mounts were thicker, I just
don't recall. My mounts are the square type with a moon shaped gap molded
into the rubber and not the round ones. Has anyone compared the thickness of
the round mounts to the square mounts? Are the round ones thicker perhaps
allowing the engine to sit up higher?
