I'm not certain offhand, but I think it was part of the general cost
reduction program undertaken when Leyland took over. Lots of other brass
items were deleted or substituted with less expensive; like door hinges,
fuel tap, etc.

Advantage of living near Shaky Town I guess; I just walked into a tool store
(in the early 80's) and bought one. Back then they even had Whitworth
sockets ... wish I'd bought a bunch of them instead of just one set.
