I pulled engine and tranny together on a TR6 rebuild. I later wheeled the
tranny, slung by the engine hoist, up to the engine sitting on the concrete
and, as Randall said in the Gearheads/Transmission post, I just wiggled it
around until it slid into place, then bolted 'em up.
'We don't need no stinkin' alignment tool.'
Seemed to work fine for me.
