Short story: two friends of mine went to Vancouver Canada to buy an old Alfa
Romeo, decided to buy it, paid cash and headed for the border.
No problem bringing it, except they would have to pay duty on the car to bring
it in. After much thinking (and not enough cash), they dug around in the
glove box and found that the car had been owned in the US before it was
exported to Canada.
Problem solved - no duty.
Probably won't apply to your car though.
