Two easy things that have helped me (I'm 6-4): First, go to a smaller steering
wheel. I use a 13" Moto-Lita and it frees up knee room considerably. Second,
wear driving shoes, or at least avoid athletic shoes with a large heel. The
extra inch or so at the heel makes a big difference in leg room. An additional
benefit is the narrowness of the driving shoes makes using the pedals much
easier if your friend wears a large shoe.
Of course, moving the seat rails as far back as possible is the first thing to
do, but as you point out, there is limited travel back there - about 2" or so
as I recall. One other issue to be aware of is the seat construction. I
noticed a distinct decrease in legroom after I re-did my seats, which included
new foam.

Hi all,
A friend here at work likes my TR6. He's also looking for a car like
mine. Problem is, he's about 6' 7". He sat in mine with the seat
adjusted all the way back, and even if the seat track were to be
re-installed so as to gain that extra inch to bring the seat back right
up to the rear wheelwell he'd have a hard time finding room for his
legs. Is there a relatively simple solution that you tall folks have
done to make yourselves fit into your TR6's...??? Short of cutting the
car in half and welding in a piece of steel.....
