Today I returned to Radio Shack where I saw that although bulb #52 is
similar in size to the original bulb.
However, Bulb #46 is similar in some ways, but, maybe 3/16" longer in glass.
Although I cannot speak from personal experience, I've heard that the
original panel lights were too dim. This extra glass may in fact, make up
for this dimness as it would protude from the center console's barrel-type
bulb holder. I have not tried it in the speedometer and tach.
I have been told Bulb #52 will fit our cars, however, I am wondering if Bulb
#46 as it is 3/16" longer. On the back of the packaging is this info:
Rated current: Bulb #52 is 100mA, Bulb#46 is 200mA- does this necessarily
mean twice the heat? Is that a MAJOR PROBLEM???????????????????
Both bulbs are 14v
Output (Candle Power rating?) Bulb #52 is 0.75 MSCP, Bulb #46 is 1.4 MSCP
MOST SHOCKING info: Average Life (hours) for both bulb types is only 30
hours?????????????????
Hopefully, someone can shed some light (NPI) on this issue.
Thanks, Paul Dorsey 60 TR3
