Keith, a close friend and a member of the local Triumph club (although not a
member of the team.net TR list!) recently located and purchased a very nice
early TR3A, it is registered as a '57 but the commission number (TS14819 LO)
places it as being a '56. He has started to disassemble it for a complete
frame-off restoration, and here begins the sad tail... It seems that the hood
was on the garage floor when my friend's wife got home from work and as you
guessed, drove over the hood!
The now flattened hood has the two vent slots at the rear and the two rivets
near the rear edge.
He has tried several British auto parts sources, so far to no avail, and judging
by the damage to the original he is definitely going to need a replacement hood.
If anyone has an extra hood or knows of a good one that is available, please
come back to me and I will put you in touch with Keith.
