Renting a water heater is a new concept to those in the US interesting.
"Renting to own " TVs, furnature is more common here. ( thought not a bargain.
)
The whole serpent thing brings to mind some medieval movie :)
Some things to consider.
Include the electrical cost when you figure the oil heater. Most oil fired
devices have a 1/2 HP motor to run the pump and combustion blower. This is a
significant draw. The constant draft up the chimney can be handled by a
automatic damper. Also consider no combustion heater will be 100% efficient and
the
higher efficiency rating the more initial cost.
Electric has no flue or motor and is 100% efficient. ( I'm discounting tank
losses as this is the same regardless of what system you use ) and takes
virtually no maintenance.
You pretty much need to calculate the cost to bring one tank from room temp
to hot for each energy source. You will use something like BTU British
Thermal Units , so there, your post isn't off topic. :+)
