Hi Al :
Welcome to the list !

Although this list is very good, Stags are not the primary focus here. You
might do better joining us on a Stag-specific list ... details are at
http://www.digest.net/stag/
Or, if you prefer a web forum format, the same messages are posted to
http://www.triumphstag.net/start/phorum/list.php?1
> Is anyone familiar with this conversion? If so can you provide details?
There are several people on the Stag list with that conversion. Sorry I can't
help you myself, as both my Stags have the Stag engine. One thing I do know,
though, is that you should be planning to change the differential as well. The
Stag differential will both not handle that much horsepower, and is too low
(numerically high) a ratio for comfortable use behind a push-rod V8 (although
the latter problem might be addressed with a 'tall' overdrive ratio).
> How available are parts for stags in the US?
Not too bad. Many parts are common with other Triumphs and so available from
other US Triumph vendors. You'll need to get a Stag "Spare Parts Catalogue"
with the factory part numbers, and then you can search at
http://www.the-roadster-factory.com/
Unfortunately their on-line ordering system seems to be down at the moment, but
I'm sure they will have it back up soon.

My other suggestion would be to find and join your local British/Triumph car
club.
