It appears they can be used on "oily" surfaces, so not too much prep
would be required. I like to over engineer (you should see the
mailbox I put up, my wife said it would be there long after the house
fell in) and I'd prep the parts I were joining, at least get the oil
and dirt off of them. I did not read all the info on the web site,
but the technicians manual wants the e-coat removed and some
grinding. If I were to be going to use panel adhesive, get the
3M Automix Panel Bonding Adhesive Technician Training Program
Technician's Manual. Its a 14 page pamphlet that goes step by step
on how to do this and where to use it vs where you should weld. I
belive you can get this at the auto paint supply store, I've not
tried at the "autozone" type stores.
