Normally, it will tilt enough to come off without disturbing the nut.  If
yours won't, I would suspect some sort of accident damage in that area.

Frankly, I think unbolting the box and moving it upwards a bit might be
easier than taking that nut off.  There is also a lock tab that should be
replaced.

Shouldn't be a problem, as the arm should be very tightly locked to the
shaft.  It's a locking taper, and mine was very tight.

You might consider rebuilding the steering box while you're at it,
especially if your car has the later split column.  That made a much bigger
improvement to my TR3A than rebuilding the front suspension did.
