Slight correction, NPT stands for "National Pipe Tapered". There is a
straight version, although rarely used. BSPP (British Standard Pipe
Parallel) is not completely unheard-of, though, on Triumphs.
Technically, NPT threads are still supposed to need a sealer. But, the NPTF
(aka Dryseal) threads are interchangeable, and frequently what's supplied
today.
