Hi Folks, Well, good news. Installed tensioner and new oil seal, as per lots of input from the list. The car started up first time, sounds great, no chain noise and drives just fine. Side benefit - major oil leak has been reduced to minor oil leak. TR3 now leaks less than MG Midget stable companion. Ar, ar! Thanks for all the help - couldn't do it without you.
