Paul, I think I suggested this before. Why not dump the mechanical fuel pump and just go with an electric pump? You can use a block off plate in the original pump location on the engine block. Another option is to remove the mechanical pump's cam lever. Reinstall the mechanical pump body on the engine. Then let an electric pump push the gas through the mechanical pump body to the carbs.
