So my new gear reduction starter seems to have failed already. When I
turn the ignition, I hear the starter spin but it doesn't crank the
engine. I think it's just the solenoid not moving the gear into
contact with the gear ring. I don't hear a thunk. I'm really hoping
it's not that the gear ring has popped off the flywheel.
Unfortunately, this happened out on the road. Is there any trick to
try to get it to engage one last time so that I can get home and swap
it out or should I call a tow truck? It's parked on the side of a
street so I have a few days to deal with it. But due to the curb,
there's no way I can swap it out where it's sitting right now.
thanks,
David
