The only thing the XR700 does is replace the points. The Sport coil may
give you more voltage to jump a wider gap (or not) but that puts extra stress
on
the rotor and since rotors are failing with alarming frequency I would not do
it. I had a stumbling problem in my TR6 so I installed a Crane thinking it
would cure the problem. It didn't. The problem persisted until I regapped my
plugs to .025. It has run perfectly ever since. I noticed no benefits to
running a wider gap and a distinct down side to doing so. My suggestion is
stick
with stock gaps.
