While driving home last week from our recent trip to Alaska (sorry, not in
our triumph, but in the Mustang convertible) we saw several Triumphs. In
Seattle on old 101 (we took the scenic route back) there was a TR7 going
the other way. On Thursday while in Monterey we detoured off the highway
into the city to stop in to a couple of wineries (which were not open by
the way) but there was a Monterey Historic Auto Race of which we were
unaware of at the time. While trying to navigate through the blocked off
streets and looking at all the VERY expensive and beautiful vehicles
without hitting anything, we saw a beautiful dark blue TR3 driving the
opposite way (anybody on the list?). And Friday while trying to avoid the
traffic backup on the 5 south, we diverted to the old highway 1 at Carlsbad
and about the Del Mar area (not all that far from home at this point)
around 4 or 5 PM we spied a nice White TR3 parked at what may have been a
restaurant (I was noticing the car :-}) Then Saturday afternoon, this time
while the Spitfire was parked in the Vons shopping center in Fletcher Hills
at home in La Mesa, I saw a white late Square tail drive by while the
driver was checking out the car, as we walked back to our car, but he drove
off before we could say hi! Overall it was great to see so many people
enjoying their Triumphs! Hope to see many of you at Triumphest again this
year, not sure of which car we'll take but it will be fun as usual no
matter what!
