I'm in the midst of yet another chassis rustoration on the 3A; I've been
using POR-15 this time in the ( naive) hope that it will outlast the
Rustoleum that has been previously applied. ( Yes, I am stripping it all
off.... no overcoating allowed.) POR-15 seems pretty good so far,. it
is tenacious, goes on easily ( but messy!!!) and looks pretty good on the
chassis. But, it is quite expensive, and has a pretty short shelf
life after the can is initially opened.
I received some spam about a new ( to me, anyway) product that seems to be
similar in many ways to the POR-15 regimen- a degreaser, an acid etch,
and the topcoat. It is sold by KBS Coatings, ( kbs-coatings.com) whom
I've never heard of before. They have a pretty good offer going on,
cleaner, etch and paint kit
for a pretty good price...... POR-15 seems to have recently raised their
prices big-time ( 70$ qt !!) and their shipping $$$ policy is totally
bogus-
Anyway, any valid reason to steer away from KBS?
NFI, of course.
thanks
