Of course, I never knew if my TR3's steering box was ever leaking (when the
car was living). But since I had it all disassembled, I was advised to go
ahead and replace the seal and bushing. I'm trying to drop the drop arm from
the box. For the past four hours I've been doing just that. I've pretty much
followed Mark Macy's instructions at:
http://www.macysgarage.com/myweb6/steering_box.htm
In addition to his procedures, I've melted several candles all over it, broken
one of the borrowed Pittman Arm Pullers and now using my best friend's and
used select vocabulary, heated it with several torches and all to say it won't
seperate.
Tomorrow I'll try my air compressor's nail gun/ chisel. Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Paul Dorsey
